Jeanette Newton's Profile
Fine handwoven items made in beautiful BC, Canada. Everything is made with care and attention to detail and I only use high quality fibres.
I try to be as eco-friendly as possible and am currently exploring the use of natural fibres that leave a smaller footprint on our planet. Most of my scarves have a certain percentage of Bamboo or Tencel in them, both of which are natural fibres with a beautifully soft, silk-like feel.
The Bamboo plant is extremely resilient and quickly regenerates after being cut, eliminating the need to replant. It absorbs 35% more carbon dioxide than an equivalent stand of trees, does not need irrigating and is most often grown without pesticides.
Tencel is made from the cellulose found in wood pulp. No toxic chemicals are used in processing Tencel, it is bio-degradeable and can be recycled.
