I grew up with a stay at home mom on a farm without cable tv, computers, nintendo, or neighbors. I spent every moment outside building forts, digging holes, or riding bikes with my brothers. My best friends were my animals, usually cows. Being creative was a way of life.
I started with flowers when I was a junior in high school on the FFA floriculture team. Realizing there was more to flowers than just pulling weeds I started working at Bloomsbury Farm in Atkins, Iowa. It was a little shop in a refurbished calf barn. Working on the farm I had an endless supply of flowers, grasses, trees, and shrubs from the yard to work with. My boss Karen was very creative and always encouraged me to try new things.
