About

I have always loved working with fabric. I studied costume design and fashion design, and have worked as a professional stitcher for the theater. About

I have always loved working with fabric. I studied costume design and fashion design, and have worked as a professional stitcher for the theater. Over the years, I've happily explored my love of textiles through learning a variety of techniques: fabric painting and dyeing, silk screening, batiking, and Japanese shibori, just to name a few.

Currently, I am becoming more and more interested in vintage and antique textiles- linens, laces, cottons, and quilts- the processes by which they were made, and the stories they tell us when we handle them now.

I've also been working with organic fabrics. These fabrics are inspiring for their subtle coloring, soft, unprocessed feel, and even their clean chemical-free scent.

In creating the pieces for Raw Edges Studio, I have the chance to experiment with colors and textures, arranging and rearranging the fabrics until I hit upon the right combination that will give each piece a unique personality. Each piece that I make is created using a combination of found and organic fabrics, vintage textiles and low-impact fiber reactive dyes.
