I’m currently a special needs teacher who gets crafty in any spare time I may have! Lots of my ideas for the cards I make come from projects I have done with the children at school and lots of the projects I do with the children at school come from ideas I come up with at home. Working with young children definitely influences a lot of what I do.

I got married in May 2011 and that has also influenced some of my more recent creations. I loved the creativity of planning a wedding and I was very hands on, decorating the marquee (with help from friends and family) doing the floral displays (having never arranged flowers in my life) making the favours, invites, order of service, table plan and even holding a kite making class for the 25 mini guests on the wedding day itself!

About

I’m currently a special needs teacher who gets crafty in any spare time I may have! Lots of my ideas for the cards I make come from projects I have done with the children at school and lots of the projects I do with the children at school come from ideas I come up with at home.

I have set up a team here on Etsy called Hand make my Wedding to join together brides to be and wedding suppliers. It's a place to come, talk weddings and find people to make your special day as perfect as possible. I used a number of Etsy sellers to supply my own wedding.

I also take photographs. When I have a camera in my hand, I literally snap away at everything. My husband used to ask me “Why are you taking a picture of that?” Now he says “Are you being arty again?” when I’m photographing a blade of grass or insisting he stands a little further to his left and makes the string on his kite shorter whilst lying in the sand at his feet.

I have been making cards for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I use photographs I have taken. Sometimes they get used as they are, sometimes they get distorted or edited before use. Often my cards are basically upcycled 'junk'. I love collecting little bits and pieces that 'might come in useful someday'. I salvage embellishments off cards I am given, save bits of paper and ribbon I like the colour of. Old cushion covers, scraps of fabric, even Venetian blind slats and guitar strings. It all goes into a box which I rummage through every now and again. I never know when inspiration might strike and that button I saved all of those years ago might be just the thing I need for my latest design!

I am also on etsy with the user name CheerfulReason which is my old buying account so not really used. But the intention on changing the name was to possibly use it as a supply shop or maybe photography shop. Watch this space!
