Heather and Casey's Profile

About

Heather and Casey were born and raised in Long Beach California where they still live and run their small business. Their dear friends, Mychele Woolley and Ben Pitts started the Reclamation Dept Etsy shop in 2010. Casey was an intern for them helping with production tasks and manning the booth at local craft fairs. Ben built a gorgeous vending cart from a vintage bicycle with a box train attached to the back made from antique wood salvaged from the old Long Beach Pike. When the couple decided to travel the world and pursue different creative ventures they sold Heather and Casey the vending cart and handed over the reigns. In the beginning, they followed closely in Mychele's and Ben's creative footsteps but have since found their own direction, focusing mainly on making bicycle compatible shoulder and hip bags. Long Beach has a very vibrant cycling scene and a strong entrepreneurial spirit so they are always finding inspiration…

Heather has been peddling her handcrafted goods since she was a teenager, selling jewelry and hats at music festivals and on the southern california beaches. She has a keen eye for color and a talent for meticulous art forms like sewing, jewelry and needlework. Heather also has independently studied western herbalism and natural medicine for over 10 years, attending workshops and symposiums held by leaders in the healing arts. She is an adventurous spirit who balances her domestic craftiness with outdoor sports and traveling. She lived in northern Arizona for 5 years where she spent her free time rock climbing and exploring the desert canyons. After moving back to Long Beach she spent 5 years training in Capoeira and was able to travel all over the US and Brasil with her group. Heather now lives in the North Alamitos Beach neighborhood of Long Beach, just a few miles away from her sister Casey, with her lovely daughter Dylana and her 2 nefarious chihuahuas, Rosie and Pancho.

Casey lives in the Rose Park neighborhood in a 1920s craftsman house with her boyfriend Adam and their lazy fat orange cat, Barnaby. Their home and garage reflect their mutual love of antiques, classic cars and vintage motorcycles. Casey's creative repertoire also includes her inherent musical talent. She has an entire room dedicated to her collection of musical instruments and she has a singing voice that will knock your socks off! Most notably, she is notorious for playing a musical saw and she recently got a tattoo of a saw playing mouse on her shoulder (her family nickname is "the mouse").
