Welcome to Recycled Denims!!

Our History:

We are a home-based business where everyone is involved!!! I love to create new things and what better way than to use resources that were headed for ruin! Together with my husband, our friends, family and our children we have had a blast retrieving items for re-use. We started out only using donated denims, thus the name "Recycled Denims", but we have found there are so many things you can retrieve, reuse and recycle. So far we have used sweaters, belts, old windows...the possibilities are endless! As a little girl, I seemed to always be on a treasure hunt with my grandmother and mother in one thrift store or another looking for wonderful treasures to be re-used in our home.

Now I share that passion with my children, close friends and family. On any given weekend we can be found treasure hunting in some of the greatest thrift stores on the western, central coast.

I have always dreamed of creating and selling to help supplement our income, but always had some excuse as to why that wasn't possible, such as "I am too busy with the children, or, I don't have the room in our home to spread out and create." My dream became a necessity when my husband was laid off from his job in January of 2010. We turned our "rarely used" formal dining area into a sewing/creating room...and GOT TO WORK! And as far as being "too busy" with the kids, that is not a problem because they are BUSY having fun helping me in the sewing room. And what a great learning experience for them!

WHY DENIM??
Denim is so classic. Never leaving the fashion world for good, just being made to fit the current fad. Even if you buy BRAND NEW denims to wear, you can never find two peices EXACTLY alike. This is true with our creations as well!

OUR CONCEPT:
We take denim garments of any size, shape or color and re-make them into unique, ONE OF A KIND products! Every denim product donated has been taken in and washed, hung in the good ole' California sun to dry. Then it is created, by hand into a new product. None of our products are mass produced in a factory somewhere...they are individually made by hand in our home! Because of the nature of our concept, NO TWO PRODUCTS COULD EVER BE EXACTLY ALIKE. This is the beauty of owning a product from "Recycled Denims". The great thing is, we didn't stop at using just denims...we have found so many fashionable re-uses for many different things. Like our gorgeous, ONE OF A KIND flowers made from recycled sweaters. These are sure to dress up any outfit, handbag or even the perfect touch to finishing off that special wrapped package to give. We have taken vintage windows and turned them into stunning message boards...the list is endless!
