About

When I was a kid, I went with my dad to my grandpa's shop at his construction company. While the men talked, I dug through the bins under the work bench to search for just the right piece of scrap 2x4 or whatever else I could find. My dad asked me what I was going to do with the wood, and I told him I didn't know. I knew I had to have it though.

I've always loved the smell, feel and look of wood. It's even better now that I know what to do with it! I started carving when I was 18 (a long time ago), but gave it up after starting a cowboy boot, because I had really cheap and really dull tools. I wish I'd kept it up. Instead, I picked up carving again about 13 years later (that's 20 years ago!) after buying my very first carving knife in Estes Park, Colorado. I've taken classes and seminars over the years, I am the librarian of the carving club I'm in, and I write book reviews for the MN Woodcarvers…

I've sold my carvings on eBay and at arts and crafts shows. My pieces have found their way across the U.S. and to Norway, Sweden, France and the U.K. I have several repeat customers, which makes me feel great. I'm always grateful when someone thinks enough of my work to purchase one or more of my carvings.

I LOVE to carve and create new pieces. I carve a lot of Santas, but I also enjoy animals and anything to do with nature. In my shop you may find Santas, Wood Spirits, Green Men, animal paw or hoof prints, animals, sunflowers and whatever else I decide to try. I use many types of wood, as well as cottonwood bark, pipestone, golf balls, antler and tagua nuts.

I carve in my home studio in central Minnesota on ten peaceful acres with views of my Bashkir Curly horses and miniature donkey out the window.
