After years as a graphic designer by day and an artist by night, I finally made the jump to being full time artist as a tile maker in 1999, starting Red Step Studio in Bremerton, Washington. I have been making and selling my tiles since then at juried art shows, Flower & Garden shows, galleries and select retail stores on the West Coast.
All my tiles are completely handmade with great attention to detail and quality; it is a 30 step process that takes up to eight weeks to complete. I use simple wood carving tools, paintbrushes, a hand operated slab roller and an electric kiln to make my tiles one at a time, giving each my signature of unrivaled depth, texture and liveliness not replicated by other tile making methods.
