Remmie's Profile

About

Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by to read more about the person behind Threaded Chains.

My name is Remmie and I was born and raised in northern New Jersey in the US. I'm definitely a queer guy when it comes right too it. I have a lot of loves in many different areas in life. You can definitely say that I have an addictive personality. :)

I have always been an artsy person even when I was very little. It wasn't until I reached high school that I was able to take art classes. But before than, halfway through middle school, I taught myself to draw. But even before that I was dabbling a bit in writing. One of my poems was even published when I was in elementary school. In high school I took the typical art class but I also dabbled a little in graphic design and for two years I took a fashion design course. I loved every minute of these classes! They opened my eyes…

About

They opened my eyes to lots of different art forms than the cartoon-y one I had taught myself to draw in some years before.

I took a few short years of Animation for college but did not graduate. However, despite not finishing my higher education I have continued to draw, write, and one day, just around the time I stopped college, I took a step in a new direction and made my first pieces of jewelry....I was hooked!

My first pieces were macrame designs made using natural hemp cord. Those first little forays eventually lead to my current selection of made to order hemp jewelry, a staple to my shop, as well as some ready to ship pieces. Using a few beads I had saved from projects when I was younger I took yet another step into the jewelry artisan's world and designed my first bracelets, earrings, necklaces...needless to say I will be a beader for life!

Threaded Chains was originally founded as a joint venture with my best friend Michelle. She backed out not long after but she still continues to support me to this day. If you catch me at a live event she will probably be right at my side. My mother has also stepped in, in ecent years to help in researching all the vintage items I now offer up in my store.

As I continue to grow my brand and expand my shop I look forward to the day that my little business will allow me to quit my day job. I have met so many wonderful people through Etsy and the handmade world. It is no longer just a hobby for me but a lifestyle.

Some other things about me are that I am a huge animal and nature lover. I don't get the time to go camping much anymore but my family was always very into the Boyscouting scene. For a few years as a teen I worked at a scout camp as a councelor and have attended many a meeting when my brother was in cubscouts. Even as a boy scout there were always the yearly family camping trips for all the boys' families to attend.

My family has at the moment two lovely turtles named Fred and Ethel, two dogs Sandy and Zeth, two cats Lucien and Mr. Duff, and one little parakeet named Akira. We hope to get some chickens in the future (we always had some when I was growing up!).

On top of all this I and my family are rather big with organic foods. We try to eat them whenever we can and have a huge organic garden in our back yard that my mother loves to cultivate daily. I also have a strong affinity for handmade bath and body. If you see me at a craft show you can almost always find me lingering near the handmade bath and body tables scouring for a new bar of soap (when I'm nto selling in my own booth that is).

Thank you for poking around my profile to learn more about me and I hope to hear from you soon!

Happy Shopping!
