About

I learned to sew as a child from my multi-talented Grandmother, who could make anything. I loved rummaging though her fabric remnants and adored the clothes she made for me and my Barbie dolls.
During my professional career in Costume Design (I have an MFA in Theater) I've specialized in period theatrical costume design and construction and have made hundreds of costumes of every era for the stage. I collect vintage sewing patterns and many of the garments listed in my shop are made from them just for fun. I sew "old school" on my vintage Pfaff sewing machines and lavish my creations with authentic details and hand-sewn dressmaker finishes.

Many of the garments I make to list in my Etsy shop are cut individually from old and fragile tissue paper patterns from my collection that are (usually) in small sizes. Minor size modifications are possible but this varies with the style and regretfully I'm not set up to grade patterns and make the garments you see in my shop in every size.
An item custom made just for you may cost more than a similar item you might see in my shop. Items in my shop are "floor samples" I've made to experiment with vintage patterns, designs, and unique materials. The price of a listed shop item is actually a minimal percentage of materials and hours involved in their making.
Some of my work is custom made for clients who want a costume made just for them or prefer specific styles custom made in fabrics they provide. Clients may send me their own pattern and/or fabric to make a garment. The cost of making a one-of a-kind specialty garment varies considerably and I try to give accurate estimates to queries based on shopping time, cost of materials, and labor. If we agree on a price for your custom item I require a 50% down payment to start work with the balance due upon completion.
Because of new strict intellectual property laws, I'm not allowed to use popular movie or TV show names or characters to market costumes on Etsy. If you are interested in having a character costume custom made, you must convo me with your ideas and we go from there. These are custom orders that are confidential and won't be listed for sale to the public.
Because of the way Google, Pinterest, and other search engines operate I often get shoppers viewing listings of sold items. If you are interested in an item I made previously that has sold please start a convo with me. I can often duplicate an item in similar colors and fabrics.

Occasionally I list vintage finds or items from my personal collection and I try to accurately describe dimensions and condition.

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile; please don't hesitate to initiate a convo with me if you would like to discuss your project ideas.
