After spending the majority of my working life as a horticulturist, first in retail and then wholesale nurseries and later as the campus landscape manager of Mississippi University for Women, I now find myself enjoying woodturning and carving in my retirement. I have always enjoyed working with wood. I have seen first hand what storm damage can do to a tree. There had to be something better than paying the city to haul off damaged trees only to have them later burned or put in a landfill. What a waste of natural resources! Now I am able to salvage some of that wood and turn it into works of art or treasured keepsakes for someone special.
