Hello! and welcome to the Rip & Stitch Diva!

BIO - There are two things I love doing here in Alaska during my spare time. One is skiing when the weather is good. But since that doesn't happen all the time, my second favorite activity for those days when the weather is less than stellar and you just want to curl up inside the warm house with your favorite tunes is quilting and sewing - hence the Rip & Stitch Diva! Believe it or not, my life started out on quite a different pattern. I went to school for four years and earned a BS in premed. I got accepted into medical school, but then decided that wasn’t the direction I wanted to take in my life. I spent a few years working as a firefighter and then an EMT, but in 2008, I got married, and now have the opportunity to take a totally different approach to life. Crafting and quilting is beginning to fit that bill, and I’m excited to see where this adventure takes me.

QUILTS – I use high-quality, all cotton materials in making my quilts. One of my favorite parts of quilting is trying out new and different fabric combinations to really make a pattern pop. It is always inspiring to try out new layouts and colors to change the whole look of a pattern. My other favorite part of the quilts I make is the hand quilting. Not many people take the time to do intricate, unique hand-quilting patterns on their quilts, but I love doing it. It's a tradition passed down to me by my mother, and I wouldn't want to make a quilt any other way, even if it does take many extra hours of work. It may take me well over a month to finish one quilt, but the result is certainly worth the time. My mother has also passed onto to me the love of many other crafts such as knitting and crocheting and I’m attempting to learn from her green thumb as well as I take on the challenge of gardening in Alaska.
