Romas Banaitis' Profile

About

My name is Romas and I’m a jeweler, sculptor, knife maker, craftsman, husband and father. I started making jewelry while attending Massachusetts College of Art, 20 years ago. After I graduated from college, I studied the principles of knife making with Master Blade Smith, J.D. Smith. My knives are published in many magazines and books. I’ve been honored with such awards as “Most Innovative Knife Maker” and “Best Folding Knife”. As for my sculpture, I would best describe it as avant garde. I use many materials to create figurative forms. My sculptures are as tall as 16 feet or as small as 1 inch. I’m influenced by Salvador Dali, Michelangelo, Rodin, Gaudi and contemporary fashion. I continue to explore fine art.
