About 4 years ago our daughter was born, and we discovered a new world, the world of the little ones...tiny clothes, big strollers and...horrible toys! we become desperate!

We started a research about toys and we learned a lot about ancient toys, folk toys, educational toys, etc. . About

Hello!

We are Susana Aparicio Lardiés (Huesca, Spain) & Juan Alonso (San Nicolás, Argentina) and we live and work in Haarlem, The Netherlands. We are architects and designers.
About 4 years ago our daughter was born, and we discovered a new world, the world of the little ones...tiny clothes, big strollers and...horrible toys! we become desperate!

We started a research about toys and we learned a lot about ancient toys, folk toys, educational toys, etc. . But our eyes began to glow when we found toys designed by well know designers, architects, sculptors, painters... big names as Picasso, Paul Klee, Enzo Mari, Bruno Munari, Alexander Calder and Charles & Ray Eames had designed toys! and what a nice things! and some of them are still in production! So, we didn´t doubt for a second, and we started a webshop with all these beautiful pieces of art. If you want take a look in our collection go to www.watermeloncat.nl.

But, this was not enough. We wanted more, and as our daughter was growing we began designing simple toys for her with paper and cardboard, playing together with her, and learning from her choices and movements.

And then, you can imagine what happened. It was not enough, and we wanted more. And we bought a scroll saw and we started our line of wooden toys. When we had some nice products, we saw the opportunity to open the Etsy shop. And we are very happy with this decision! We began to improve our products and our technique, and we produced new designs, and we came in contact with a lot of people, nice people, around the world who are making lovely thing for kids.

We are constantly working on new designs, so you could find new products regularly in our shop. We are learning all the time, so our toys are each day better constructed, and we are proud of it.

Take a look in our Etsy shop and spread the voice!. If you have any suggestion or question, write us!

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day!
