About

Hi! and welcome to my online jewelry boutique; SUKI Jewelry Designs. This website represents one of my biggest dreams come true - owning and operating my own business! My name is Katrina Armour-Robinson, and this is my story...

I was raised in Ottawa, Ontario by a very creative mother. I grew up loving and admiring her numerous artistic projects. She dabbled in pottery, decoupage, sewing, crochet, but mainly had a flair for design and decorating. I soon realized that, I, too had creative juices flowing and did some dabbling of my own. I painted, sculpted, scrapbooked, made jewelry, decorated, and experimented with many other crafts. Despite my numerous inventive projects, I was particularly talented in drawing, and so I pursued an education in Portfolio Development, which later morphed into studying Animation. After a year into school, I realized that despite how much I…

About

Hi! and welcome to my online jewelry boutique; SUKI Jewelry Designs.

After a year into school, I realized that despite how much I loved Animation, I could not see myself doing this for a living. Despite my disappointment, my studies opened my eyes and turned my attention to my other lover; Interior Design.

So I completely changed course and put myself through college (again), and spent the next three gruelling years studying the art of Interior Design. With a decorator for a mother, and some flair of my own, I worked harder than I ever had, and became a darn good Interior Design Intern. However, living in a Government city, there was a shortage of work, and what little work there was, not only meant designing boring offices, but also demanded a stressful and devoted life to the field. With this disheartening realization, I had come to a cross-roads. In order to be an Interior Designer, I would have to become a slave to my career and succumb to stress, depression, and inactivity, while being chained to a computer 24/7, not to mention lack a social and family life. After 3 years of hard work in the field, I had an epiphany and I simply refused to live this way. It was excessive, unnatural and I wanted something that would better my life, not hinder it.

And so, yet again, I made a big change in my life. I've always dreamt about working from home, and how great it would be to be my own boss. I had already dabbled in making jewelry, but this time I planned on making it my stay-at-home career. This was something I felt I would enjoy for years to come, whether I'm at home taking care of my kids, or in my later years simply enjoying my craft. So, I started by selling jewelry through my friend's home hair salon, as well as creating custom orders. It went well, but my ambition called out for more. I learned about selling things online, and a friend introduced me to Etsy.com, and I knew that was the way I wanted to go about selling my jewelry. So for some time I simply focused on creating jewelry, while I got the other details organized. I recently got a part-time job at a zoo, handling animals (another dream come true), and am selling a collection of zoo inspired jewelry, as well as selling children's wholesale jewelry, in the zoo's boutique. The feedback has been so positive, that it affirmed that I was indeed on the right path. And now, my history is in the making, as you are on my long-awaited, highly anticipated online boutique: Welcome to SUKI Jewelry Designs!!

Thanks for checking out my boutique, and I hope you'll be back again!
