Sarah Koch's Profile

About

I grew up in a family of artists and have been dabbling in different mediums my whole life. I first fell in love with block printing in a sixth grade art class, enjoying the imperfections of a print. I have come back to block printing in my adult life and must admit that it is now my favorite medium. My mother was my beading inspiration, spending hours in the evening meditating with her peyote stitch. I first picked up a beading needle when I was 10, enjoying the deep concentration required to create intricate patterns.
I currently create in a small yellow room in the woods using whatever techniques and tools that catch my fancy or just happen to be lying around. There is no method to my madness.

Biography and Inspirations:
My name is Sarah and I am an avid crafter and traveler. I grew up in West Sonoma County, California and my home’s beautiful surroundings have always inspired me. I am drawn to ocean life and dense forests and it often shows in my work. My mother installed the travel bug in me at an early age with numerous cross-country trips (or you could call them sprints) and rustic trips to Mexico. I love Mayan ruins and have visited many temples across Mexico and Guatemala. More recently I have spent a semester in Paris (although I speak Spanish), adventured to Costa Rica, across Europe and into Morocco. I have been influenced by the beauty I have seen in these places and strive to convey it in my craft.
