Rilla Soetmelk's Profile
Looking back over time, my passion for creating handmade quilts began as a junior in Home Ec classes in our high school. Since, I saw my mother sew for a large family (mostly mending). I felt comfortable and already confident that I could and should sew. I really didn't have much time to spend with sewing for four children but took a job at Yonkers Alteration Department in Omaha. It was the perfect job for me to take my children to school and pick them up at 3:00 when they got out of school.
When my neighbors heard that I did alterations, the doorbell started ringing and the drop offs and pickups began.
As my kids grew, left home, and married, a whole new group of needs arose; GRANDCHILDREN! Now my need to create for babies, adolescents, juvenile, preteen, teens and then hopefully the passion will still be there until GREAT GRANDCHILDREN arrive…
