Jonathan Sawyer's Profile

About

I am a San Diego native and was first introduced to pottery as an elective during my senior year of high school. My first pieces included pinch, coiled and slab pots. It wasn’t until my sophomore year in college when I signed up for a ceramics class at the UCSD Crafts Center that I began throwing on the potter’s wheel. As a college student and intercollegiate athlete, I took advantage of the 24/7 studio access with frequent late night sessions at the wheel. After graduating with a degree in managerial economics, I continued to develop my pottery skills and style. I now work out of my own personal studio in San Diego, CA.

I concentrate on creating functional pottery for daily living- including mugs, bowls, casseroles and vases among others. I have created custom work for restaurants, retail stores, weddings and individual customers.
