About

I love wool! Every time a see someone in a beautiful wool sweater, I think about shrinking it down to make wool felt...okay, maybe not every time. ;)
My love with wool began a couple years ago when I saw an adorable penny rug at an antique store. It wasn't an antique penny rug, but was still cute, and its image was filed away in my head. About a year later, I started thinking about that rug and did some research online. I really liked what I saw! I loved the history of the penny rug, and I liked that I can carry on the tradition of reusing scraps to make something beautiful to decorate my home. I got some wool felt scraps and made a penny rug potholder. It wasn't very pretty, but I learned from it, and made a bunch more penny rugs.

Since then, it has been exciting to try and find new things to make. I get inspiration from things around me, often tearing out pages of magazines, or in one case, cutting up a cat litter bag for the design on it. I make all of my penny rugs out of old wool sweaters that I have felted. I get these from thrift shops, garage sales, and from people around me. I use hand me down crochet thread from my mother for all the stitching.
I love making penny rugs! I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them!
