About

I have loved creating things all my life. When we were in middle school, a friend showed me how to sew, and 10 years later I received my first sewing machine as a Christmas gift. As corny as this sounds, my life has not been the same since then!

About

I have loved creating things all my life. When we were in middle school, a friend showed me how to sew, and 10 years later I received my first sewing machine as a Christmas gift. As corny as this sounds, my life has not been the same since then!

What started as a hobby to keep my mind occupied when our first child was an infant grew into SOMP as it is today. I have learned so much flying by the seat of my pants--a bit of a mantra for my life in general!

I am pleased to offer beautiful, durable, functional designs made from the highest quality materials I can find. While my family is wildly supportive--accompanying me to shows, assisting with tent set-up, general cheering--the actual production of SOMP is a one-woman show. I do all of the cutting, ironing, stitching, and finishing in my home studio.

Beyond sewing, I enjoy music and poetry as well as playing in the outdoors. I am from Cleveland's West Side and reside currently about an hour south of there in Wooster. My "real life" job is teaching high school English. My second book of poems, CADABRA, is due out in the spring of 2015, and I'm pretty psyched about that.
