A bit about our traditional arts:

Chainmail (also Chainmaille) is the art of weaving metal rings together in a repeating pattern. Originally developed centuries ago as a form of armor for warriors, it has since been adapted to a modern world, in the form of jewelry. However, the process is still the same. Each ring must be opened, woven into the pattern, and closed. At Serenity in Chains, we do this by hand (sometimes several thousand times a day). A single piece of jewelry can have hundreds upon hundreds of rings that must be hand woven to create the final product, and clothing (and other larger items) can have thousands of ring closure required. For us, this is done with nothing more high tech than a set of pliers, and our hands.

Wire Working is also a traditional art here at Serenity in Chains. Our wire working involves prefabricated wire being hand formed, twisted, and hammered into pleasing shapes such as rings, pendants, and necklaces. This process also involves pliers, our hands, a hammer and block, and wire snips. This has recently included the age old art of Viking Knit, which is said to be an ancient form of weaving gold wire for Viking warriors to use as currency. A section of woven wire chain would be cut from the total length to purchase goods and services while traveling. Viking knit involves hand weaving length of wire (average of 53 feet for a necklace) and then drawing the woven length through a draw plate to produce a fine knit, flexible metal chain. All by hand.

All of our prints, and photographic wall art are shot in local areas by our Graphic Artist and Photographer, and printed right here on high definition paper. Each photo we offer is a hand selected shot, perfectly lined up, and captured in high resolution for your enjoyment! We use very little photo editing in this process, because we don't need to! The beauty of each subject is allowed to stand on it's own for your enjoyment!
