I make things. I can't stop and there aren't enough people in my life to use up all my creativity. So I sell the overflow on Etsy.
I am incredibly fortunate to have access to resources for funding my business when I need to. I try to pass this on by making at least 1 loan per month to artisans in other countries through www.Kiva.org
I've been able to help out 18 individuals and co-ops through micro loans so far.
I also do my best to think about where my products and packaging came from and where they will end up. I search out organic, vintage and recycled materials whenever possible and make all my products out of natural materials. Metal snaps, cotton fabric and cotton thread are pretty much the extent of my supplies.
I choose natural materials so that when an item reaches the end of its useful life, it can be composted or recycled instead of thrown "away."…
