Thanks for looking at my work!

Born in the Midwest, I painted my way through college in Pennsylvania and then kept going east to Massachusetts where I worked as a graphic artist and art director for a number of years in the printing and advertising industries before settling down to raise a family. Now that my very active boys have all started school, I have returned to painting with a renewed passion for sharing my perspective of the world around me through my art.

My current work is mostly small format in a fairly realistic style. The intimate size captures a glimpse, something you have to get close to in order to see, often small enough to hold in your hand.

I try to paint every day - mostly the things I see around me - common objects, local produce (food is a favorite subject!), flea market finds, my kids’ toys - and I have a special love for regional landscapes. I like trying to capture the things I feel are quickly disappearing - whether it is old buildings, kitschy carnivals, open land on the edge of suburbia - or older objects that give us the sense of "home". Experimenting with the use of color and unusual angles, I also like to play with the effects of light and shadow, endowing an almost magical quality to even the most common objects. I work mainly with acrylic paints and paint from life whenever possible, whether in the studio or en plein air. I frequently paint on location on the North Shore of Massachusetts, as well as in northern Maine.

Please note that I am a working artist....my work is frequently in shows and exhibitions, so I am always deactivating and activating pieces according to what I actually have in my studio at the time. If you love a work you have seen here in the past, but no longer see in my shop, please feel free to contact me to see if it is still available!

Through selling smaller work, I hope to give both starting and established collectors an affordable way to purchase an original painting directly from the artist.
