Welcome to Shoe House Studio. I create whimsical and functional pottery.

Inspiration may come from every aspect of life, but for me, I give my six sons the most credit. They create art without fear. They show pride in what they produce, knowing it is beautiful. They could care less if anyone appreciates it. They notice color, shape and texture in a busy fast paced world. I love that at the end of the day, I get to tell them that I am doing what I wanted to do my whole life, and that I am happy. Art has always been a huge part of my life. I just can’t get enough of it. After exhausting every art class offered in school, I took to painting portraits and landscapes. I then established myself as a muralist, gaining experience painting the inside of churches, houses and various businesses. As my family grew, so did my desire to grow as an artist. I had such a love for many different forms of art and mediums including jewelry making, painting on canvas, photography, sculpture and design. I decided that I could combine them all to form a new passion, and that is exactly what I began to do. After my studio was established with kiln, slab roller and shelves in place, I was able to bring all the forms of art together and share the endless possibilities with my children. ~ Melanie
