Are you sacrificing style to make your pets comfortable in your home?

When your pets are family, you’ll do anything for them, even if it means having an ugly dog bed in your fabulous living room. But why settle for ugly?

Janery was inspired by my four pets and my love for interior design. My pets loved to have a cushy spot to call their own, but I grew frustrated with the supply of ugly-but-practical pet beds on the market, and pillows whose covers couldn’t be removed for washing. When I started sewing again, Janery was born.

In the first few years I experimented with a variety of product designs and materials, and tried to hunt down American-made supplies and the perfect waterproof liners for my Charlie Cushions. I quickly outgrew the small sewing table in the corner of my home office, and…

I quickly outgrew the small sewing table in the corner of my home office, and finally moved the operation to a dedicated sewing studio in our home's basement in 2013.

The best part about running my own handmade shop is the creativity it affords me. I have more product ideas than time to produce them, so in the coming year I hope to expand Janery further, hiring women in my community to help me sew. Providing jobs to my community and seeing more of my products in action? It's a win-win!

Community:

Because we believe that all pets and people should have a safe place to call home, we donate a portion of all proceeds to foundations for homeless people and pets.

Made in the USA:

I believe in supporting US businesses, so I've taken the time to track down quality suppliers whose products are manufactured in the USA. The pillow inserts, quilt batting, and polyfill are all made in the USA by family-owned companies and the fabrics are printed in the USA.

When I'm not busy sewing, I blog about rental decorating, sewing, and running my business at The Borrowed Abode.
