Emma McClung's Profile

About

My name is Emma, and I've been creating ever since I was a little girl. After several stunts in interior decorating in my parents house- you know, locking myself in the guest bedrooms and stenciling the walls, or putting wallpaper on without permission; the usual- (and eventually being banned from touching the walls or furniture again), I decided to create smaller things with my hands and leave my parents alone. I began as a multi-media artist, but have found my happiness in creating jewelry.

A little backstory- in December of '09, one of my friends I worked as a spokesmodel with had on the most beautiful necklace, and when I asked her about it, she said she'd taken a class and made it herself!

The following day, she took me to downtown Los Angeles before work, and helped me pick out my first mother-of-pearls. She spent an hour showing me the technique, and after that, I was hooked.

My first necklace took 16 hours to make. Thankfully, I've mastered it down to around 4 (if they're my long ones), but it took some time to get here. No matter what I'm doing, my goal in life is to create more beauty in a world that I've seen be so harsh, and help give hope to a world that can be so dark.

Here's to my first handmade jewelry shop! (Champagne glasses toast!)
