About

Hello there, my name is Salma and I have been a Henna Artist for about 12 years. For those of you who don't know what 'Henna' is, it is a natural and temporary tattoo of sorts. It lasts on average 2-3 weeks and leaves a beautiful reddish brown stain on the skin.
I was born and raised in Pakistan where Henna is a traditional art form done mainly for weddings and for celebratory purposes.I moved to Berkeley, Ca about 12 years ago and have been doing Henna Body Art since!
I mainly work on Telegraph Ave as a street artist as well as participating in various craft fairs in the Bay Area. This art form has financially supported me and enabled me to attend, and graduate from the local university- U C Berkeley.

Every winter in Berkeley we have a holiday crafts fair on Telegraph Ave, where people come and shop for Christmas gifts, and every winter I make different products to sell, as henna tattoos are not a tangible item one could buy and then give to someone as a gift. This past year I had this phenomenal idea of using my drawing skills to paint Henna-like designs on wooden earrings. They came out beautifully and are immensely fun to make. They are extremely lightweight, one of a kind and relatively inexpensive (considering that they are essentially miniature paintings on handmade jewelery). I use Maple wood as the actual earring surface and paint delicate designs on them with acrylic paint. The ear-wires are made from gold-plated surgical steel, so they will not give you allergies!!!! There are many sizes, colors and designs to choose from so that there is indeed something for everyone...
I have received so much positive feedback and so many repeat buyers that i have decided to continue these earrings year round, along with my Henna art. I am really excited about these earrings and i hope you enjoy them as much as i do. We all know that a woman can never have too many pairs of earrings so why not add them to your collection or buy them as a unique gift for a friend... u will not be disappointed!!!
They are simply, Salma!
