About

I've been making things since I can remember, sewing doll clothes before I could thread a needle. It's only natural (and therapeutic) that I sew buttons onto zippers to create zipper bracelets and jewelry. The idea of making a bracelet out of ordinary notions, that opens and closes like a button and buttonhole, came to me when I was "playing" with all my sewing supplies. I was a designer in the fashion world and worked in NYC for many years, so I have loads of "stuff". My house had been robbed and all of my good jewelry, including my favorite gold bracelets, were stolen. I love to wear bracelets, so I wrapped a zipper around my wrist and started sewing buttons, charms and whatever else struck my fancy onto zippers and came up with my unique jewelry idea and named them "Zippalets". Each zipper bracelet reflects me, girly yet strong. Think of the contradiction of wearing functioning hardware as body adornment. Its the oxymoron of who I am.

I sell my designs at art galleries, shops and a few art/craft shows in my area.

Born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan, I graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology, FIT, in NYC. I was hired as designer after graduation and worked and lived in NYC and NJ for 25 years. I moved back to Michigan, which is not a hub for fashion design, and am now happily creating fun things that people love to wear.
