About

Small Town Traditions is a family run shop. My mother hand crafts all of the crochet items. She is over 90 and is still going strong. Working with my dad, she maintains a large vegetable garden and makes her own jellies from the black berries they grow. Over the last two years she has managed to make over $1000 each year selling her crochet and jelly to friends and family to raise money for her church’s renovation. She has always been hard working, raising two girls while working full time as a bookkeeper and then as a shop owner. She and my dad still live in our small town in the home that he built.

Although my profession has been in computer system development and design, my passion has always been around the arts. Growing up I was surrounded by a family strong in tradition and one that enjoyed making things by hand. My grandmother was a wonderful seamstress and we spent many hours together as she passed on her wisdom and talents in clothing design and construction. My mother taught the art of crocheting, gardening and cooking and my dad crafted beautiful furniture that fills all of our homes still today.

I feel so blessed to have such an understanding husband that doesn’t mind our kitchen table full of paints and flower pots and our living room covered in bolts of fabric so I have the space and freedom to create. I hope to continue our family tradition by passing on all I have learned to my niece and nephew so the next generation can enjoy the passion of creating.
