My work is heavily influenced by nature and gender. I create organic forms and let nature and chance choose the surface design. When I sit down with a lump of clay it's to have a conversation-some go well, others fall apart and sometimes one of us will have very surprising input. But whatever pots come from it are just a record of our little talk. Because of that I tend to leave working marks on my pots, a reminder of the process. I like to dig my own clay because it adds so much interest to the exchange! Dug clays aren't formulated with potter's requirements in mind, and working with them can be challenging.
