Hello and welcome to our shop.
South Industry started as an initiative lead by a Colombian Artist /Textile designer and a Venezuelan Jewelry designer both based in Brooklyn, New York. This project is the effort of a group of artist interested in creating a new line of original and unique products by supporting the indigenous communities in Colombia and the local craftsmen.
The main material used on this line of accessories is the Mola which is the Kuna Indian word for blouse, but the term mola has come to mean the elaborate embroidered panels that make up the front and back of a Kuna woman's blouse.
The molas are reclaimed and reused to make accessories mixed with vibrant colors of leather creating a blend of the past tradition and a contemporary look and technique. Since mola panels have been worn as part of…
