About

Hi, I’m Mou!
Growing up in Calcutta, India, I used to glue cuttings from old magazines, calendars, etc. together with my mom. Neither of us knew it was called ‘collage’. Mom had a hand-bound sketchbook that she had been filling with drawings, embroidery patterns, design ideas since her teen years. The evenings that we spent pasting things with our homemade glue, she told me stories of how she learned to stitch and knit from my grandma. My other grandma, mom to seven including my dad, was also a crafty homemaker. When I went to grad school to study Clinical Psychology, I had no inkling that I’ll venture my crafty hobbies of drawing, painting, cross-stitching, gluing things together, etc. into entrepreneurship someday.

I had just applied for my PhD when I was married to a stranger through a wedding arranged by our families. A week later I was in the U.S. and my first shopping spree was to a craft store. My receipt was taller than me…I still have it! After we had our first baby, I found scrapbooking, and it became a creative lifestyle. I became a Contributing Writer for Creating Keepsakes magazine and a full-time artist. But I still wanted the creative freedom of making things just for my own joy, without restrictions or deadlines, and thus my little baby shop, Color Happy Creations was born.
I love colors, textures, and little handcrafted details and make them the focus of my art journals, mini books, and kits. I make each kit from scratch with a lot of tender loving care-they are much more than a compilation of pre-made elements. I am so thankful for those of you who have let me become part of your special life occasions like weddings, graduations, birthdays, new babies, etc. through my work! Hope you too would want to touch, feel, and make my handmade creations your own.
I create in my home studio which was once meant to be a guest room. I love working from home as I can’t bear to miss a moment of my children growing up. You can connect with my little world through my blog: http://collagecollagecollage.blogspot.com/
