About

Hey ya there!

This is me, Corbin, owner, employee, and custodian of Splendid Fish Studio. Our motto here is either "They come from the water and they bring strange dreams," or "Hey! I didn't think THAT was gonna happen!" (if you have a preference for one or the other, please let me know. I'm working on business cards...).

So - here at the Studio, I divide my time more or less evenly between daydreaming, making things, and cleaning up after myself (maybe there's a little less emphasis on cleaning up after myself). When you look at my work, you are seeing the little fish I've angled from those daydreams. I present them to you in the hopes that you too will have dreams filled with signs, symbols, and wonders.

Aside from that, I'll tell you that I live in the hinterlands of Northern Michigan…

Aside from that, I'll tell you that I live in the hinterlands of Northern Michigan where the maples and pines outnumber people by a very respectable margin, and even the deer and bear are reasonably well mannered - unless you smell like corn or honey. Then they can get a little frisky with you. But what do you expect? They're wild animals.

So... maybe you want to know a bit about how I work... well, I work in a variety of media, but I'm most happy when I can hammer on a piece of metal, or heat it up until it turns red. I guess I really ought to be more serious sounding here, and go on about my education and such like stuff, but the truth is - I just really like working, and I can't help laughing while I do it. Is that a bad thing?

And besides, if you like my work, does it matter where I went to school and who taught me? And if you don't like my work, are you going to like it better because I went to a fancy school?

Er... to cut this ramble short, let me indulge in a little bit of pride and point out to you that every aspect of the work, from design, to production, to packaging, is done by me, personally.

I hope you like my little shop here on Etsy. Don't be afraid to smile when you see me behaving foolishly... no body's watching you... (you did turn that little camera on your computer off, didn't you?).

To conclude - May the Sun and the Moon shine on you and on those you love -

Corbin
