A bit about us ( "us" is usually my husband and me, sometimes other family members) ~ I opened the shop over 4 years ago and am dedicated to offering awesome quality and variety to as many different tastes as I can.
Most of my supplies are from the beautiful Great Lakes. We are gentle with the shores - following rules & regulations; picking and choosing; bringing these beautiful stones and fossils to new adventures.
Hopefully you'll love the shop and the natural presentation of the rocks we choose.

2011 - Sleeping Bear Dunes on Lake Michigan!! - Voted Good Morning America's #1 Most Beautiful Place in America ♥ "It is peaceful and serene, a place for gazing out into the world, night or day, and realizing that the universe is truly a magical, majestic mystery, and humans are just a very small part of it all," he wrote in his submission. "Here at Sleeping Bear, I sit in awe and wonder at the perfection of Mother Nature."

**About our SLAG GLASS** These are historical leftovers from a bygone age of northern Michigan shores. Becoming rare! Beautiful pieces of beach glass in colors you aren’t likely to see anywhere else. They are the result of iron ore smelters from the mid 1800's...that used the lake to dispose of the glass. They’ve been tumbled and washed by sand and waves for 150 years....Pretty cool that you can really date these gems!
The colors are very intense blue, purple, green and black...you'll often see several colors within one stone. They may be dotted or streaked with greyish white or purply black sediment, which gives them a very organic, earthy look. A distinction between this and other similar stones on our shores are that they usually have glossy "holes" showing the glass.

***About our FOSSILS** we've rescued many fossils from becoming sand:) They're absolutely amazing, and Lake Michigan is a haven for them.
"The fossils found here are marine, which means, they were animals and plants that lived in salt water seas. Michigan was once the bottom of a shallow salt water tropical sea....The area of northern Lower Peninsula abounds with corals. Corals normally grow in shallow salt water tropical seas." -The Complete Guide to Michigan Fossils

***About our Great Lakes***

"These lakes are, for all intents and purposes, vast inland seas. They can produce waves, currents, ice flows, and fog banks every bit as treacherous as any found in saltwater. They also have shoals, reefs, and sand bars as perilous as those found in oceans. What's more, the lakes are known around the world for their savage, arctic-born winter storms." ~ America's Lighthouses

"Because of the glacial transport of rock from the Canadian Shield, Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes have more varieties and colors of rock on their beaches than you are likely to find anywhere else on earth.
The glacier collected rocks for us from places we could never go and left them...
Some of the rock....may have come from the Arctic coast..nearly 2000 miles away..."
