The story about me.
OK, there are two things about me. Well, I am sure there are a lot more than two, but we'll start there. First I was a jeweler. I was a jeweler even when I was a kid, I just didn't know it yet. I spent hours in my father's shop watching him make jewelry. He even let me try to "help" him. He was always complimentary even though I know now he redid, or threw out most my work after I left. Over time my involvement grew and so did my skill.

You can call it a 20+ year apprenticeship if you want. It reached the final test when for 2003-2004 my dad left me in charge of the business while he and my mom went to Southeast Asia to serve a mission for our church. http://mormon.org

After they got back I was burned out by jewelry and went searching for a 'real career'.

What I found was Urban Planning and a love of people, cities, cultures, sustainability, and making the built environment better in the future. I found that I love to ride my bike, and think everyone else should love riding theirs too. Especially with all the cute things my husband buys for it. I found I care what happens to earth. I believe that where we build and what we build makes a difference. I think we should live near the places we frequent. I get infuriated with transportation engineers that think a wider freeway will end congestion. I love making beautiful maps. I hate sprawl. And I dream about living in a loft in the city with a market on the corner and everything else accessible by bike or train.

It is ok if you think I am a geek, cause I am. But if you weren't bored out of your mind with those few sentences you can check out my blog: http://urbinsanity.wordpress.com/
Now and then I have time to write about stuff.

So here I am with a degree and a 'real career' and yet a part of me is drawn back to my artisan routes. So I came back to the jewelry and started a business of my own, here on Etsy. Though I love using my mind at my day job, I also love designing and making things with my hands. And there is something very balancing and perfect about doing both.
So I do both.

And I smile as I see my jewelry headed off on little adventures to see the world.
