About

I am a beachgirl-it is the place where my heart feels that all is right with the world, where I find restoration and inspiration, peace and great joy. I love the colors of the water, the smell of the salt air, the continual treasure hunt as I meander down the beach in search of shells. Sunset is my favorite time of day and I am in awe of the way that God paints the sky at the close of each day. I have had the good fortune of visiting beaches all around the world...I have green and black sand from the shores of Hawaii, beach glass I collected in Turkey, tiny exquisite shells found on the quaint island of Isla Mujeres, and my studio is overflowing with all of the things I have found along the Florida coast and the Philippines, where we used to live. I have had the joy of sharing the beach with extended family in Australia, the wonder of walking the beach with my husband in the South of France, and the incredible gift of joining my…

I have had the joy of sharing the beach with extended family in Australia, the wonder of walking the beach with my husband in the South of France, and the incredible gift of joining my friend Sharyn on a cruise thru the Greek Isles. The treasures I have collected during these travels are often found in my designs. My hope is that my artwork brings you as much pleasure as all that it represents brings to me.
My design background is rich and varied. Mostly I love to work with color, texture and pattern, whether it is in designing quilts, faux finishing walls or doing fresh flowers for a wedding. My artwork is licensed for fabric, dishes, party goods, home decor, flags and paper goods. Now, making jewelry has captured my focus, creating miniature seascapes, working with my torch to make beautiful glass covered beads, playing with all of the colors that I love so much. Working with the torch has added new depth and beauty to my designing and I feel like it is the element that brings all of the pieces together. The luminosity and flow of the molten glass remind me of the ocean waters, the ebb and flow of my life, and all that has transpired to bring me to this place.
I grew up living within walking distance of the beach. Playing beach volleyball was my passion. I lived in a dysfunctional household where I felt like I never measured up, and throughout my life, that need to be at the sea when I reached a point of crisis has always been compelling. That is why you see it reflected in so much of my artwork. I am wife, mother and friend, first and foremost. I am a creative soul who is inspired by the God of creation and all of the beauty that He gifts me with each day. I have been blessed to be married to a wonderful man for nearly 33 years now. We have three beautiful kids and I'm totally in love with my new grandson, Weston. We faced may challenges as a family including cancer, insulin dependent diabetes, Asperger's Syndrome and chronic health problems, and I was so thankful for those times I could escape to the shore.
Thanks for listening to my story. I invite you to like me on facebook @ facebook.com/Studio139Designs to get a snapshot of life now, the joys and victories, new discoveries and incredible beauty that I capture with my camera. I am always learning, growing, becoming, wanting to be intentional with my choices and embracing the joy in the journey.
