About

I have been a mixed media artist and a non-traditional sculptor the whole of my adulthood and went back to art school later in life as a non-traditional student.

Outside of my conceptual "high art", these last couple of years have seen me creating what I term as vignettes – small assemblages that tell a brief story or relate a sentiment. The materials most utilized in addition to a base of wood, art plaster, and found objects, are antique doll remnants that have been dug out of the earth surrounding the old doll factories of Limbach, Thuringia, Germany.

Most pieces I use are between circa 1860 and 1935, broken and I like them that way. At the very core, for me, the use of these remnants relates to mine and others' personal strength; perseverance in the face of atrophy; the sublime of the imperfect and discarded. We are perfect in our imperfections; we are worthy in our flaws and free to become and be something beautiful.

In addition to my assemblage, I create narrative word, conceptual as well as spiritual jewelry, primarily earrings.

I am also active in the Fluxus movement, mail art, and performance art.

I currently reside in the Finger Lakes region of NY wine country and work out of my (hysterically unorganized) studio on our land that I am eternally grateful for.
