A note from Courtney:
I have always been artistic, working with some form of medium my whole life. At 17, I dipped into my college funds and bought my first camera. My parents were beyond furious, saying that 'everyone wants to be a photographer & it's not an easy field to make it in.'

I have always been artistic, working with some form of medium my whole life. At 17, I dipped into my college funds and bought my first camera. My parents were beyond furious, saying that 'everyone wants to be a photographer & it's not an easy field to make it in.'
Within that first year I don't think my camera left my side. By 18 I moved from home, and became a full time professional and regularly published photographer working with models and companies around the Northern Michigan area. At 19 I started my studio, (Summerfrost Photography) and began working more with families. At 20 when talking to my father about that rebellious purchase I had made, he said "well, that may be the only thing your mom and I were ever wrong about." I had found my passion.

Shore Side Co. is a fresh endeavor that happened after moving from my hometown of Traverse City. I was hesitant to start up a new client base for Summerfrost, as I didn't know how long I would be staying in the new town. Without shooting on a daily bases like before, I found myself artistically trapped. I needed an outlet, and found it in a little glass jar of beach glass my grandmother and I had collected.
I began making jewelry from the pieces of glass and even presented the idea of selling the items to my grandmother. She was hesitant, saying that there was a lot to know about making jewelry. Nevertheless, with a little push from my boyfriend, I pursued it anyways and bought www.shoresideco.com to begin selling. Shore side is now an international business. :)
