Karen Karlik's Profile

About

I love to capture iconic elements and landmarks rooted in cultural identity. My work often re-interprets legendary threads of beauty that reflect the places and peoples of the world that interest me most. My art moves beyond its function for the kitchen or living room, embedded with hints of a culture’s legacy for owners to enjoy.

My pieces are developed in stages. I begin testing, firing and adding elements, then cold working which involves grinding and polishing, until the colors and textures achieve the character I’m after.

My work has been commissioned for over twenty years. My recent experiments in design have led me to the exciting possibilities of art licensing.
