Mary Datwyler's Profile

About

I love glass - of all the mediums I've worked in, this is the only one that sticks - for over 20 years, I've been completely and totally in love with glass.

I work full time in stained glass and fusible kilnworked glass. I also do lampwork as a self-representing artist. I'm lucky to say that this IS my day job! I have done glasswork professionally for almost 20 years.

I do something in glass everyday - it keeps me in a constant creative stream. Even as long as I have been working in glass, there is always a day when it's nothing but cuts and glass shards. But that's part of the process and makes the result even sweeter.

I have appeared on DIY Network, Great American Country Channel and HGTV's "That's Clever" and other television programs featuring my glass work. My work has also been shown in national catalogs and art galleries.

I am regularly commissioned for small, medium and large stained glass installations and windows for residences, businesses and religious facilities. I have also been commissioned for kilnworked home and business decor and have made items for corporate gift programs across the country.

I have taught beginning to professional level classes in stained glass and kilnworking to students from all over the world from the ages of 8 to 80 and enjoyed every minute of it.

My work is on six of the seven continents (someday it will make it to Antarctica!). There is nothing I would rather be doing than glass.
