Riverbank Bears and Friends' Profile
Hello name is Jo and I started making mohair bears many years ago whilst living in Belgium. When I returned to England I lived near to an old Water Mill "The Old Millwright's workshop and Watermill", built in 1713 and now fully operational http://www.tea.co.uk/guild-members/ollerton-watermill-tea-shop, and the first unique undressed Hessian Bears were born there using left over supply sacks, we sold the bears in the shop. Some of you may have also seen my bears in 'Teddy Bear International' or 'Christie Bears.'
All of my bears are handstitched, and each has its own individual character and personality.
Each bear is made from either quality mohair or hessian/jute. They are fully jointed with glass-eyes and suedette paw pads, and a have a little diet of stuffing along with plastic beads which gives them some weight.
I hope you will enjoy browsing there are also a few photos of my bears in Hugglets…
