Rebekah Lowell grew up in the house built by her father, surrounded by a field of timothy grass in Biddeford, Maine. She spent much of her homeschooled childhood outdoors, nature journal in hand, sketching plants and wildlife or dressing up as Laura Ingalls Wilder living along the banks of Plum Creek wearing the hand-made bonnet and apron set from her mother. Always painting, drawing and making forts in the woods with her siblings, she later earned a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Rebekah’s artwork has won the Maine Duck Stamp twice, her waterfowl paintings now being commissioned nationwide with clients in several states. Currently she is earning an MFA in Writing and Illustrating for Children at Hollins University. She lives in her hometown of Biddeford, Maine with her husband, two daughters and their two tuxedo cats. When she is not in her studio, Rebekah is either out exploring with her girls or reading…
