About

We live in a world full of turmoil and negativity but we also live in a world filled with love, happiness, hopefulness and beauty. I believe that to acknowledge something and give it our energy and focus, gives it power, so I choose to paint what I find beautiful.
I think that most will agree that beauty gratifies, fills, and lifts the mind and heart. Imagine a moment of joy between a mother and child or the way light can illuminate an ordinary scene and bring it to life, making it glow with otherworldly brilliance. I want to paint those moments that bring tears to our eyes and make our hearts sing, those quiet places that fill us with nostalgia, the simple moments of connection between people.

I must admit that I see beauty nearly everywhere, and my goal is to share my artistic perceptions of the beauty of the natural world and its people that are around us every day.
I have been known to paint a broad range of subject matters, but my passion is people. In my portraits and figurative paintings, my objective is to express to the viewer the sacredness of human emotion, be it love, sadness or joy. I wish to be able to capture these emotions in my subject, but also to have my viewers feel these emotions. When painting a portrait, I am after not only a mere likeness, but also a glimpse of personality and character. I find that with the right light, the right brushstrokes, and the elimination or addition of details, I can create a mood that I hope will transport my viewer to the scene or the feeling of my choice.
