If you asked me five years ago if I'd be creating, nonetheless selling, anything 3-Dimensional, I would have laughed at you and said, "Like that's going to happen" But, in early 2010 I became hooked on making bead animals after I wondered if the concept of those beaded lizard keychains could be expanded on. It started innocently enough, with me making dogs and horses inbetween college classes and studying. Over time, that table I would display them on began to look smaller and smaller as more and more dogs were added and it became apparent I had an addiction. Apart from some vague instruction along the lines of "you put the beads on the wires and weave like a maniac up and down!" I am entirely self-taught and my patterns are all original. I couldn't think of anything I'd love to do more everyday!

When I'm not beading, I ride horses, draw, write, and read books. Occasionally, I'll boot up the computer and crusade across the land on horseback in a virtual kingdom, but alas, my real life is far more mundane.

Questions about my beaded dogs

Is that wire or thread?

Wire. However, there is beading thread.

How long does it take to make them?

I'd like to say four hours on average. If I'm making a dog with the moving hair (like the Border Collie 's tail or the Shih Tzu's ears and tail) then it will take an extra hour (or two is there is a lot of hair) to tie all that thread. The keychains are about a half hour or so.

Why dogs?

Unlike Cats, Horses, and a number of domestic animals, dogs come in many shapes and sizes. From the small pug-faced Japanese Chin, to the lanky Wolfhound, to the butch Bulldog, there's always something new to try!

Where do you get your patterns?
I don't use patterns. Everything has just been beaded based on visualizing the concept in my mind. I've got a very visual brain that allows me to see the beads, virtually move them around. Sometimes drawing them out helps too.

Do you make things that aren't dogs?

Occasionally, yes. Horses. Felines. Maybe an oryx?

You should make _____ breed!

Okay. Then ask! I just might! :D Ask about animals as well.

And what's my favorite dog?

A Saluki!!! (although I love Akitas, Border Collies, and Dobermans as well)...and sighthounds. I love sighthounds.
