Charlotte Linder's Profile

About

My name is Charlotte Linder and I am a Botanical Artist working in Watercolour on Paper. I was born in Sweden but presently live in the UK.

Throughout my life I have developed a passionate interest in art, crafts and gardening. During the time I stayed at home with my four children I spent much time growing all our vegetables, flowers and herbs, and decorating our home using traditional painting methods such as marbling and graining. I also taught the art of traditional Swedish basket painting, using egg tempera and pigment.

After moving to England with my family in 2000, I studied for my Certificate of Botanical Illustration at Leicester College and have also participated in short-courses at The Chelsea Physic Garden, London.

I am a member of the Leicestershire Society of Botanical Illustrators (LSBI), and The Society of Botanical Artists, SBA.

I have exhibited several times in Westminster, London and Frankfurt with SBA, and at the RHS flower shows and at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery at Kew Garden in London and various other locations in the UK with LSBI.
I have also had solo exhibitions in Sweden and eahibited at the RHS London Flower Show, where I have been awarded bronze and silver medals.

Composition plays a very important part in my work and I always try to find new and interesting ways of arranging the subject on the paper. Even when I am not painting I am always on the lookout for a plant, fruit or vegetable which has a personality or movement that inspires me.

Producing greeting cards, etc. using my own images is the latest addition to my work.
