My grandmother glued shells on anything that would hold still. She took apart old costume jewelry and attached the "gems" onto satin balls to make the most beautiful Christmas ornaments I have ever seen. So, my life as an amateur artist/crafter began decades ago at Grandma's work table and at my own little blue table covered with the finger-paint concoction my mom made.
While Grandma tended toward the "More is Better," method, I would say that I have a more closely edited style. The vintage buttons I choose to work with are magnificent in their own right, needing only to be ever-so-gently accented. It is not unusual for me to make a piece over several times, until I feel the button is used to its best advantage.
It is my goal to get these astonishing works of art and craftsmanship out of the ubiquitous button jar or off dusty…
