Bronx born, I was trained as a Combat Still Photographer in the Marine Corps (1968 - 1971) and was also a graduate of NBCD School (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense School). Once discharged, I attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and after four years obtained a BFA in Photography (1976). A freelance photographer and writer since, my work has appeared in various publications such as: New York Times Sunday Magazine, Time/Life Books, IMAX Films, Village Voice, Human Rights Magazine, Shutterbug Magazine, Hasselblad Magazine, American Photographer, Ocean Realm, Dive Travel Magazine, Discover Diving Magazine, Picture Magazine, Popular Photography, Nikon World, Black and White Photography Magazine, Studio Photography Magazine, B&W Magazine, and LensWork Magazine to name a few.
