gypsy's thimble (thimbal) n. Middle English. 1 A very small cup-like object made of bone or ivory, almost impossible to find in this age. Not to be confused with the more common sewing thimble. The gypsy's thimble is believed to be imbued with magical abilities (compare with Mary Poppins' carpetbag.) Hundreds and thousands of glorious and amazing treasures could be brought forth, if one knew the charm; usually a verse or nonsensical phrase. 2. An incredibly tiny seaside cottage surrounded by wild, untamed gardens, giant roaming bunnies, cats who believe they are dogs, dogs who believe they are people, gypsy momma and gypsy child who believe they are the luckiest people in the world to be living together in The Gypsy's Thimble.
