Amanda Lillie's Profile

About

Hi, I'm Amanda, owner and designer behind The Lillie Pad--a shop of delightful crochet, handmade, and personalized treasures.

I am a former Spanish teacher, turned stay-at-home-mompreneur who loves to craft in my free time. I have been knitting and crocheting for many years. I have recently launched a whole new personalized product line in my shop that includes home decor, clothing, and more!

I grew up watching my great-grandmother and my grandfather (her son) crochet. And my other grandmother did quilting and cross stitching. After college I taught myself how to knit and grew to love working with yarn. I soon realized that I wanted to learn how to crochet, but my grandfather had passed away before I was ready to learn.

I wish so much I had decided to start sooner and learn from him.

In the summer of 2010, while spending the summer in Spain with my husband, we visited a missionary couple in Sevilla. The wife was an avid crocheter and she graciously took me under her wing and taught me how to crochet. Since that trip it is rare to find me without a hook in hand or within arms reach! It feels like it is in my DNA, passed down from my great-grandmother and my grandfather.

I have now inherited my grandfather's and great-grandmother's crochet hooks and my great-grandmother's sewing machine. So every textile purchased in my shop is truly a treasure--made by hands that love what they do, and made with the tools of four generations.
