I am a self-professed rag hound and thrift store queen. I learned how to sew and craft in the kitchens of the American deep south of the 1960s. Elder women were always called "Miss" and there was never a shortage of creativity from the rag bag and the button box.

Needle and thread was all I needed to create or recreate the stories in my head. Low-tech, color, texture. No beeping, buzzing, ringing things in my hands. Just peace and quiet. Okay sometimes tangles of threads and yarns, but that was half the fun.

I love to help other people experience the joy of stitching - hand sewing and embroidery. I teach Embroidery School on my website. It's a free program with a downloadable sampler to get you started: twelve stitches on a wheel taking about 5 minutes per stitch to learn and accomplish.
